World Sickle Cell Day 2024

On June 19 it is World Sickle Cell Day. The aim of this day is to increase awareness of the disease and blood donation.

There is an exhibition at OSCAM and a gathering at the DeLaMar theater. Sickle cell disease is a hereditary disorder of red blood cells and mainly occurs to people of color. VU professor of donor behavior Eva-Maria Merz is also involved. Merz conducts research into the behavior of blood donors.
