Job to job counselling

Last updated on 21 June 2024
HR Expertise offers work to work counselling to VU employees whose temporary employment contract expires.

The counselling is offered for both academic staff and support staff. This way you are supported in finding a new job. A few months before the end of your contract, you will receive an invitation to apply for work to work counselling. You will be invited for an intake with a work to work counsellor after registration. During the intake meeting with a work to work coach, WW and other schemes are discussed and the guidance that is needed is explored. You can also sign up by sending an email to wnw.hrm@vu.nl

Cancelling your participation

You can cancel your participation in the work to work counselling if:

  • your employment contract at VU Amsterdam has been extended or turned into a permanent contract.
  • you have found a job elsewhere. If so, please inform us about the starting date of the new job.
  • there are other reasons why you will not apply for unemployment benefits (WW).

Please cancel your participation by sending an email to wnw.hrm@vu.nl.

Webinars

VU Amsterdam offers five webinars as part of work to work counselling. These are offered in both Dutch and English. It is recommended to follow the webinars in this order.

  1. Competences
  2. Networking
  3. How to be successful using LinkedIn
  4. Resume and motivation letter
  5. Job interview

Job counselling during unemployment

On the basis of the Unemployment Benefits Act (WW) and the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch universities (cao-NU), VU Amsterdam is responsible for the job to job counselling of its former employees. If you apply for unemployment benefits after your contract at VU Amsterdam ends, you are obligated to participate on your reintegration.

If you receive unemployment benefits after your employment at VU Amsterdam has ended, the university will continue to support you finding another job. We will ask you to submit your monthly job application activities. If you have questions about applying for unemployment benefits and the ensuing rights and duties, please send an email to wnw.hrm@vu.nl.
