In a tenure track, clear agreements are made, usually for a period of five years, about performance and the associated career opportunities. If performance is good, the tenure track offers permanent employment, known as ‘tenure’.
Following changes to the collective labour agreement in 2024, the tenure track policy of VU Amsterdam established in 2016 has been revised in 2025. Transitional law applies to tenure tracks that commenced before 1 January 2024.
