Security and Research

Last updated on 29 January 2024
Security is another important consideration for your research. It is important even if you don’t work with privacy-sensitive data, because other types of data may need to be kept confidential, such as business data. Security is also important for preventing your data from being corrupted or lost.

A good starting point is this general VU information security page. The faculty has also created a brief page on the minimum standards you should follow to ensure a base-level of security in your day-to-day work.

For additional guidance on security topics, the faculty has also created the following guides:

Should a data leak occur, you must inform the IT Servicedesk immediately. You must also inform the faculty's Research and Policy Support (REPS) team via research.data.fgb@vu.nl. Set the e-mail to "high priority".
