MS Teams is the interactive online conferencing tool for teaching and learning at VU Amsterdam. Let students communicate with you and each other via video and chat. Use the various Teams apps, share your screen or take a poll, allowing you and your students to truly collaborate online. MS Teams' break-out rooms allow you to divide your students into smaller private groups so they can discuss a topic intensively or practise their skills.
- Organise meetings directly from your Canvas Course.
- Chat, share your screen or record your meeting
- Use automatic captions or transcription.
- Use breakout rooms to facilitate discussions
- Create additional interaction with the polls application of the Whiteboard functionality.

Canvas integration and students’ email addresses
On 11 August, students’ email addresses in VU Canvas were updated to naam@student.vu.nl. Students can now use the Teams Meetings application in VU Canvas, and as a lecturer, you can organise online meetings via the application in Canvas.
The update to the email addresses should not affect applications within Canvas. If students encounter any problems, please contact the faculty Canvas support team or the IT Service Desk.
Do you use W.W. Norton? You should have received a message about this. If you haven’t received a message, please contact the IT Service Desk.
