Academic Dutch Plus

After the Academic Dutch Plus course, you will know how to write a good academic text in Dutch. You'll be more familiar with the structure and types of words and phrases you can best use.

During the course, as much attention as possible is paid to the customs within the field of your study.

Methodology
At the start of the course, you will hand in a text you have written for your studies. After that, there are five meetings, during which you will learn what an academic text in Dutch should comply with: form, style, structure, sentence structure and word choice. Your attendance at the five meetings is mandatory.

In-class and individual
Each session consists of a in-class part and a customised individual part. In the in-class part, you practice general academic writing skills. In the individual part, you work on your specific problems in language or general writing skills. These include general and academic vocabulary; sentence structure; the verb system; the use of nouns, articles and references; and spelling and punctuation. We determine what you will work on based on a diagnostic test you take in the first meeting. After the third meeting there is an individual coaching session. During this, you will discuss your text and your writing problems with a writing coach.
