Treasury Management & Corporate Finance

Accelerate your career and become an expert in the treasury and corporate finance field. Think out of the box and contribute to in-depth discussions with treasury and corporate finance experts, senior management and board members. This program in Treasury Management & Corporate Finance is the right choice for your professional development.

Admission requirements for the three semester modules

The minimum requirement is a Bachelor’s degree, with admission tests in corporate finance and mathematics.

The vast majority of participants hold an M.Sc. degree and have three years of relevant work experience. Applicants with the following backgrounds are accepted: 

  • M.Sc. degree in Economics and/or Business Administration
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in Treasury Management, Corporate Finance OR a related (financial) discipline

These applicants are not required to conduct an admission interview. However, it is advisable to have a discussion with staff on the added value of the program/semester module for career development and your personal interest.

Applicants with the following background may be accepted

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics and/or Business Administration or
  • Dutch HBO diploma (University of Applied Sciences) or
  • Master’s degree NOT in Economics and/or Business Administration

These applicants are required to conduct an admission interview. The compatibility of your CV and admission requirements will be discussed. Based on the admission interview and CV the Admission Board will determine the likelihood whether the applicant will successfully complete the program/semester module and their decision is final.

An outcome of the admission interview may be a requirement of 1 or 2 admission tests on Mathematics and/or Corporate Finance to enter the program/semester modules.

Practical information

  • Who is the program for?

    The program is intended for ambitious treasury and corporate finance professionals in both the commercial and semi-public sector. It attracts corporate treasurers, bankers, consultants and corporate finance professionals.

    The required profile for prospective students who have successfully completed all 3 semester modules can be described as follows:

      • Multidisciplinary overview of all sub-disciplines in treasury management and corporate finance.
      • Thorough technical knowledge of financial instruments in risk management and corporate finance.
      • Knowledge of current developments in corporate capital markets and the range of possible corporate financing options.
      • Detailed knowledge of treasury systems including IT to keep track of fast developments in this field.
      • Skills in the assessment of corporate financial risks and the design of hedging strategies.
      • Skills in corporate security design.
      • In-depth expertise and insights into the legal, fiscal and accounting consequences of choices in treasury solutions.
      • Specific knowledge and skills to run a treasury and corporate finance department.
  • How to apply?

    The application must include this form and the following documents (in pdf format):

    • Copy of passport
    • CV
    • Copies of relevant diplomas and list of grades

    Once we have received your application form, your documents and you have received an email confirming acceptance, your application is approved.

  • Tuition fee

    The tuition fees amount to:

              € 9.500 for the first semester module starting in february 2025

              € 9.000 for the second semester TBD

              € 8.500 for the third semester TBD

    - If, before the start the first module, registration is done for all three semester modules total costs are € 25,000. The tuition fee of EUR 25,000 includes the paper assignments in the second and third semester module.

    - Discount: For DACT members the (first) module Cash and Treasury Operations can be taken at € 8.000.

    - The tuition fees covers (1) lectures and examinations, (2) the use of VU Library and study facilities at VU Amsterdam, (3) dinner and drinks before and during lectures.

    - If necessary, the fee for an admission test is € 300

    - The tuition fees do not include the costs for the mandatory books (approximately € 250 per semester module).

    Books are made available at the start of the relevant semester module in the VU bookshop in the main building at VU Amsterdam (Boelelaan 1105). The VU bookstore is open on weekdays until 19.00. You can order books (with a discount) through the VU bookstore

  • General payment conditions

    If chosen to register for all three semester modules, you will be requested to pay the total tuition fee.

    • Corporate Finance & Valuation (Sep 2024 - Jan 2024)
    • Corporate Financial Risk Management (Feb 2025 - Jun 2025)
    • Cash and Treasury Operations (Sep 2025 - Jan 2026)
  • Language

    The program is entirely taught in English
