Work is a huge source of meaning, learning, challenge, inspiration, and relationships. At the same time, defined as “activity involving mental or physical effort done in order to achieve a purpose or result,” it can strain our mental resources. The World Bank (2019) has identified three key skills for future labour markets:
1. Advanced cognitive skills like complex problem-solving.
2. Socio-behavioural skills like teamwork.
3. Skills that allow us to be adaptable such as reasoning and self-efficacy (confidence).
This volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) work environment places additional mental strain on employees and brings new challenges to leaders. This course is designed to inform, equip, and encourage leaders to achieve impact without a cost to individual well-being, providing understanding and tools to build a vital, flourishing team.
