The business toolbox of the public controller

Public Control & Accounting

As a controller in the public and non-profit sector, it is not only important to have thorough business economic knowledge, you must also be able to apply this in the context of the public and non-profit sector.

The best result is not so much the highest possible profit. Efficient management means that you do not lose sight of the social goals to be achieved by your organisation.

Effective management means not losing sight of the social goals of your organisation. This requires a specific use of the available instruments for cost calculation, business cases, AO/IC and information provision, for example.

The Public Control & Accounting module provides you with a broad and in-depth basis in the fields of Management and Financial Accounting and Administrative Information Management. Not only the instruments/tools are explicitly discussed, but also their relevance and application in a public and non-profit context. Both national and international developments are discussed, including the trend towards harmonisation in reporting and the increasing influence of international guidelines (IPSAS). We also take a close look at developments in ICT and their impact on the public sector.

In addition, you work hard on your academic training, so that you develop a well-founded vision of the profession and the organisation for which you work. In this way, this module puts you in a position to contribute to growth and development, both for the organisation or sector in which you work and for yourself personally.

This Public Control & Accounting module is offered in Dutch. Please view the detailed programme here.
