What?
When you study at VU Amsterdam, you don’t have to stick to the regular programme. You can broaden your horizon, deepen your knowledge, develop skills and challenge yourself with the Honours Programme.
Becoming an honours student means you follow special honours courses from VU, UvA and AUC. Think of topics such as Brain and Behavior (how is human behavior linked to the functioning of your brain?), Mastering Creativity (learn to ‘master your own creativity’) or Climate Challenge (preparing you to participate in the difficult discussions about the challenge of climate change). With interdisciplinary courses such as these you broaden your knowledge and skills. But that’s not all: to deepen your knowledge and skills, you also take courses within your own study field, extend your bachelor thesis and/or conduct research.
Are you motivated and up for a challenge? Do you want to meet like-minded people? Then the Honours Programme might be exactly for you! As an added bonus, becoming an honours student lets you stand out from the crowd: it shows you are an outstanding student who is motivated, not afraid to take on extra challenges and achieves more than average.
For who?
When you decide to study at VU, you become eligible for the Honours Programme if you have the motivation to take extra courses in the second and third year of your bachelor programme and passed all your first-year bachelor courses by the end of year one, with a grade average of 7.5.
