Human Movement Sciences (pre-master's degree)

The pre-master’s programme offers a tailored selection of courses from the Bachelor's in Human Movement Sciences. It is designed to bridge the gap between your previous education and the master’s programme, and is customised based on your academic background and the specialisation you wish to pursue.

Standard pre-master's programme

Students with a relevant Dutch HBO or WO bachelor’s degree can bridge the gap to the (Research) Master’s in Human Movement Sciences by completing the standard pre-master’s programme. Eligible backgrounds for this track include:

HBO

    • Movement Technology
    • Physiotherapy
    • Physical Education (ALO)
    • Exercise therapy
    • Occupational therapy

WO

  • Measuring Physical quantities - period 4 + 5

For full course details, please refer to the study guide.

Admission to the (Research) Master’s

Upon successful completion of the standard pre-master’s programme, you will be eligible for all tracks within the Master’s in Human Movement Sciences in the following academic year.

If you complete the Sport Psychology pre-master’s programme, you will only be eligible for the Sport Psychology master’s track. Unless you are completely certain about your choice, we recommend the standard pre-master to keep all master’s options open.

Other HBO or WO Bachelor’s Degrees

If your background is in another HBO or WO field, admission to the pre-master’s programme will be evaluated individually based on your academic profile. If admitted, your pre-master’s programme may differ from the standard version.

You may be required to take additional courses to address deficiencies (e.g. in anatomy, physiology, and/or psychology), or you may be exempt from certain subjects due to prior coursework.

For students with the following backgrounds, a customised pre-master’s programme is typically developed:

HBO

    • Sport, Management and Business
    • Sport, Health and Management
    • Sport and Exercise Education
    • Sport Science
    • Nursing

WO
