The curriculum develops substantive disciplinary expertise while fostering the ability to read, reason, and write at an academic level. In addition, students gain foundational experience in research methodology and statistics.
Students who demonstrate exceptional academic performance may be eligible, upon completion of the pre‑Master’s, to participate in one of the Honours Programmes offered within the Master’s in Finance.
Specialisation Finance
How are share prices determined? What constitutes the most effective method for financing an organization? In what ways can financial regulation support society? Is stricter regulation beneficial for banks and for the stability of the financial system?
Within the Master’s programme in Finance, you will engage with these and related questions, while also examining the ethical dimensions of the financial sector. Upon successful completion of the pre‑Master’s in Finance, you are granted direct admission to the regular Master’s in Finance.
Students who demonstrate exceptional academic performance may be eligible, upon completion of the pre‑Master’s in Finance, to apply for the Honours Programme in Finance and Technology. Admission to this programme is selective and subject to additional requirements. In addition to successful completion of the pre‑Master’s, the admissions committee expects the following:
- Above‑average grades in the pre‑Master’s in Finance (≥ 7.0)
- Demonstrable training or verifiable practical experience in a programming language equivalent to 6 ECTS (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB, or C++)
- Curriculum vitae
- Motivation letter in English
- Sample of academic writing (e.g., thesis, dissertation, or academic essay)

Financial Management provides insight into the relationship between an organization’s internal decision-making, investment choices, financing policies, and financial reporting—and the functioning of financial markets and institutions. If you choose the Financial Management specialization within the pre-Master’s, successful completion grants you direct admission to the Master’s in Finance: Financial Management.
Students who demonstrate exceptional academic performance may be eligible, upon completion of the pre-Master’s in Financial Management, to apply for the Honours Programme in Corporate Finance within the Master’s in Finance. Admission to this programme is selective and subject to additional requirements. In addition to successful completion of the pre-Master’s, the admissions committee expects the following:
- Above average grades in the pre-Master’s in Financial Management
- Curriculum vitae demonstrating extracurricular engagement and/or societal involvement
- Motivation letter in English
- Sample of academic writing (e.g., thesis, dissertation, or academic essay)
