The helping glove
Madalina and Tobi - Human Movement Sciences
A glove that improves your hand control. This is what five VU students came up with to improve the daily lives of people suffering from spasticity. With their start-up Madglove, the students help these people regain their social freedom and independence.
Madglove improves the quality of life of people suffering from the effects of spasticity
We use our hands all day long - more often than you think. For people suffering from spasticity, for example due to a brain infarct, performing everyday actions, such as tying laces, is difficult. Their hand function is largely disabled due to the muscle tension that keeps the hand closed in a fist, and won’t allow them to grasp objects. For the purpose of improving the quality of life of these people, five VU-students, Madalina, David, Cara, Sitah and Tobi, developed Madglove. Madglove is an orthotic glove that allows stroke survivors to use their hand. This way, they regain some control.
The five students met at VU Amsterdam. Before that, Madalina studied Physiotherapy. David has a bachelors in Business Administration, Cara in Biology, Tobi specializes in behavior and rehabilitation sciences and Sitah is the Industrial Design Engineer.
