The cure setting resembles the Massachusetts health care reform of 2006: strong government regulation mixed with private providers and competing health insurance plans. Institutional long-term care is defined by a public insurance run by the central government, mixed with private providers. Youth care and long-term social care are financed by the local government and provided by private providers.
To incorporate deep institutional knowledge most of the research is performed in a transdisciplinary setting, i.e. in collaboration with the relevant actors like regulatory oversight agencies, health care insurance plans, central and local governments, health care providers and health care professionals.
In addition to research, our group of researchers is involved in teaching and policy advice. We teach bachelor courses, master courses, and post academic teaching. We advice most political parties irrespective of political color, as well as associations of patients, employers, and labor unions. For policy advice please contact Xander Koolman (x.koolman@vu.nl)
