Our students generate insights that help your organisation move forward. They are trained in addressing real-world challenges, such as management problems, evaluating policies and interventions, implementing technologies, and facilitating inclusive stakeholder processes.
Our students excel in diverse research approches, including quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methodologies. They conduct surveys, interviews, and focus groups, as well as policy-, system-, and innovation analyses. They facilitate reflexive dialogue, are adept at working in interdisciplinary teams, and always have the end-user in mind.
Expertise per education programme
The Athena institute coordinates internships for three education programmes, all in the field of Health & Life Sciences, but each with a different expertise.
Master: Management, Policy Analysis and Entrepreneurship
During the master Management, Policy Analysis and Entrepreneurship in the Health & Life Sciences (MPA), students learn how to address complex societal questions, through connecting several disciplines and actors in society: from government, industry and social institutions to consumers and patients. Students are trained in qualitative-, system-, and stakeholder analyses, quantitative research methods, and scientific writing.
Research master: Global Health
In the research master Global Health, students learn about advanced research methodologies. They are trained in statistical-, qualitative-, policy-, system-, innovation-, and stakeholder analysis, creating reflexive dialogue and action research.
Bachelor's specialisation: Sustainable Health & Care
In the track Sustainable Health and Care, part of the bachelor Health & Life Sciences, students learn how healthcare actors could provide sustainable care that provides durable health and does not have a harmful impact on the planet. The students are trained in statistical analysis and qualitative analysis.
During their internships, students will be monitored by an academic supervisor from the Athena Institute.
