Research Data Management

We are excited to announce that this year research data management (RDM) has become part of the AIMMS PhD training program. Registration for the first edition of the course opens on 19 January 2022 here (https://forms.gle/9D1Wg2pD3Ggxcwvr5).

Who? AIMMS department

•       PhD candidates who started their studies in 2022 (mandatory).

•       PhD candidates who started their studies in Nov/Dec 2021 (highly recommended)

•       Other AIMMS colleagues*

*For practical reasons this course has a maximum number of participants. If this number is exceeded a selection will be made from non-obligatory enrolments.

What? 

The FAIR research data management (RDM) lecture will introduce the concepts and practices that enable good research data management, for example: the research data cycle, data formats, FAIR data, metadata, interoperability, archiving, etc. These concepts will then be used to start writing a DMPOnline based Data Management Plan (DMP).

When?

•       Registration for full course opens: 19 January 2022 [link]

•       10 March 2022 workshop in O2 and/or online (COVID dependent) 14:00 - 1700

o       Lecture. An introduction to FAIR Research Data Management.

o       Practical. Using DMPonline to create a Data Management Plan.

•       Initial DMP evaluations and consultations: 28 March 2022 - 15 April 2022

In March 2019, AIMMS organised the first PhD introduction course. Next edition is planned for 2022

This 1-day course organised in Feb 2018 introduced you the theory and ways of thinking about metabolic networks, and to a suite of corresponding tools and their use. It was given by Prof. Jannie Hofmeyr from the Centre for Complex Systems in Transition and Dept. of Biochemistry, Stellenbosch University, Stellenbosch, South Africa.
