VU ART SCIENCE gallery

VU ART SCIENCE gallery

The VU ART SCIENCE gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday, from 12 to 6 PM. The gallery host is happy to tell you more about the exhibition and the artworks.

The gallery focuses on the interaction between art and science. Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam initiated the gallery, as it encourages the exchange of multidisciplinary knowledge. The urgency and complexity of today’s issues demand radical concepts which allow us to leave conventional paths behind and explore new directions.

Boelelaan 1111
Next to the VU ART SCIENCE gallery, opened in 2021, the NU Building on Boelelaan 1111 hosts VU Griffioen (theatre & courses), Rialto VU (cinema) and cultural café Bar Boele. At the heart of the inspiring university campus VU students and employees as well as visitors and Zuidas residents can meet and enjoy film, theatre, art and science.

Current exhibition: Foreign Land

Foreign Land explores the theme of migration through a range of artworks that offer the perspective of those living in between cultures. The exhibition aims to rediscover the human aspect of migration by exploring why people move across continents and how it shapes them, looking at the intersect between private and national identities. With work by Abul Hisham, Susanne Khalil Yusef, Benjamin Li and Anthony Ngoya.

Researchers from various scientific backgrounds will share their perspectives on the topic of migration in a public program.

On view till March 29, 2025.

ART SCIENCE dialogues

With the ART SCIENCE dialogues we investigate how artists and scientists can stimulate each other and pave the way towards innovation that transcends disciplines. Check our event calendar.
