  • OCTOPUS-study

The Department of Health Sciences at VU Amsterdam conducted the OCTOPUS study from 2018-2022. This study compared the effect of two physical therapy treatments for people with knee osteoarthritis, namely regular exercise therapy compared with exercise therapy in which the treatment was tailored to three subgroups ('high muscle strength subgroup', 'low muscle strength subgroup' and 'obesity subgroup') and for one of these subgroups ('obesity subgroup') this was supplemented with dietary treatment by a dietician. A total of 335 individuals with knee osteoarthritis participated.
