Eduroam and wireless internet

Eduroam is a secure wireless network that allows students, researchers, and staff to connect seamlessly at their educational or research institutions.

Attention: If logging in with your VUnetID@vu.nl and VUnetID password doesn't work, please try changing your password first.

Eduroam is available at VU-Campus and the following locations outside VU-Campus:

  • VU-Uilenstede (Bavinck House and Atria)
  • Griffioen Cultural Center
  • VU Sports Center
  • ACTA

Please note that visitors can access VU's 'guest' wireless internet using a temporary login, which should be requested by a staff member or student organization. For more information, please refer to Wireless Internet for Visitors.

With your login credentials, you can also connect to the eduroam network at other educational or research institutions worldwide. To find a list of institutions connected to Eduroam, visit www.eduroam.nl and www.eduroam.org.

Wireless internet

Visitors from an institution that is affiliated to Eduroam are advised to use the Eduroam network (see Eduroam).

Please note: applications for a temporary log-in account for wireless internet must be submitted by a VU employee or student organization.

Wireless internet is available from the VU campus and the following non-VU campus locations:

  • VU-Uilenstede (Bavinck house and Atria)
  • Griffioen Cultural Centre
  • VU Sports Centre
  • Metropolitan
  • Academic Centre for Dentistry Amsterdam

Visitors are issued with instructions for using this network when given their log-in details.

For whom?
Visitors who have no VU-net-id and who are not from an educational institution that is affiliated to eduroam (see Eduroam).

Order description
Applications may be made via the central desk in the main building, A0-11. Employees must prove their identity with an employee card with a photograph, or an identity document (driving licence, passport, ID card) and VUnetID. Student organizations should identify themselves with a student card and proof of membership of the board of the organization. The account information is provided to applicants in person.

Costs
Employees may have up to ten accounts free of charge; any accounts above that number will incur costs.

Delivery Conditions
Employees or student organizations who apply for accounts are responsible for how they are used by visitors.

Delivery Time
Ready while you wait, in the case of small orders. Accounts cannot be created more than fourteen days in advance of when they are required.
