Human and environmental exposome

Our lab is dedicated to advancing the understanding of environmental and human chemical exposome, using analytical instrumental techniques based on high resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS).

Our lab is dedicated to advancing the understanding of environmental and human chemical exposome, using analytical instrumental techniques based on high resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS).

Our research group is actively involved in the activities proposed by the NORMAN society (Network of reference laboratories, research centres and related organisations for monitoring of emerging environmental substances), participating in specific cross-working group activities such as non-target screening (NTS), and co-coordinating the working group 3 focused on effect-directed analysis. In addition, we are key partners in multiple international multidisciplinary projects such as Panoramix, and INQUIRE. In Panoramix different approaches are taken to analyse chemicals in environmental and human samples. In the INQUIRE project we study the chemical pollution in the indoor environment, to significantly enhance the indoor air quality. Our group was an active partner of the Human Biomonitoring Initiative (HBM4EU) project, where 28 different countries aimed “to measure Europeans’ exposure to chemicals and their health effects and develop human biomonitoring (HBM) as an exposure assessment method.”  The HBM4EU project was the springboard for the new European partnership PARC, where our research group is actively involved developing and implementing analytical approaches for monitoring and exposure assessment of chemicals.
