Environment Health & Toxicology

Environmental Health & Toxicology studies the impact of environmental contaminants on human health and the environment.

In the section Environmental Health & Toxicology, multiple disciplines such as (eco)toxicology, risk assessment, and epidemiology are brought together to study the effects of contaminants from the molecular level to populations, ecosystems, and society. We are specialized in contemporary hazard assessment tools, including non-animal models and new approach methodologies (NAMs) for toxicological understanding and risk assessment practices. We improve the knowledge on how lifestyle, including chemical exposure, affects human health. Especially for exposure assessment and risk assessment, the EH&T section works in close collaboration with the section CE&H. Our joint expertise and research output are integrated in student education programs at BSc, MSc, and PhD level and make an important contribution to the knowledge needed for informed environmental governance of the most pressing environmental pollution issues now and in the future.
