Academic English: Advanced Writing in English

This 400-level course is intended for master students who are already confident about their written academic English but who wish to resolve any niggling linguistic issues they may still have. Also for students who wish to refine their writing by concentrating on a clear and compact style and aspects of textual coherence. We look at how your writing can be made more interesting.

The course has a 3-hour session every week and assessment is based on a research paper or a dissertation in progress (approx. 2500 words), a series of editing assignments, plus an analysis of and report on the weak areas in your own English. Feedback is given using ELS-online, the ALP feedback package.
