More education FGB

In addition to bachelor's, master's and minor programs, the Faculty of Behavioral and Movement Sciences offers more education programmes.

Check out the range below:

More educational programmes

  • Secondary subjects

Student from another Dutch educational institution or VU student that are interested in taking courses from other faculties can take a limited number of secondary subjects at the Faculty of Behavioral and Movement Sciences (FGB). Taking secondary subject is free of charge. Before you apply for a course, please read the course description, which lists any additional entry requirements. It may happen that participation in a course is not possible due to a lack of available places. Please check the study guide for more information. You can filter by secondary subject and faculty.

  • Contract Education

    What is contract education?
The VU offers the possibility for people to take courses without enrolling as student. This is called contract teaching or contract education. In principle any course can be taken through contract teaching. The instructor of a course decides whether the course is actually open to people who are not enrolled as student.
Exceptions are the final products of courses such as B-theses, M-theses, theses and research projects.

For contract teaching a contract is made for each course to be taken. The contract regulates which course is available for you and what the costs are. It also specifies the number of credits to be earned. A maximum of two exams may be taken.

Who can participate in contract education?

You must hold one of the following qualifications
    1st Bachelor's yearPre-university (VWO) diploma
First-year higher professional education (HBO) diploma
     Old-style Dutch postgraduate (doctoraal) diploma
     Bachelor's degree
     Master's degree
    2nd Bachelor's year
    3rd Bachelor's year
Some courses from the second and third Bachelor's year require you to have prior knowledge of the course (admission requirements) in addition to the qualifications mentioned above. Read more in the study guide.

Master's programmeTo take Master's courses, participants need to hold a relevant Bachelor's or Master's degree.

    Availability of components
The instructor of the course decides whether a course can be taken. Reasons for waiving contract students often have to do with the ability to take practicals and work groups.

    Where to find what informationwebsite
All information about our courses can be found in the study guide. Entrance requirements are listed with the course.www.studiegids.vu.nl
    Locations and scheduleshttps://rooster.vu.nl

    Costs and payment
The costs are €100 per credit. Most courses include 6 credits. This fee includes the examination and a maximum of one re-examination. Payment must be received before the start of the course. Literature and syllabi are not included and should be purchased. The VU bookstore has a good stock but you are free to choose any bookstore.

You may cancel your enrollment no later than ten working days before the start of the course. After this date, you will no longer be eligible for a refund of the course fee. If you cancel in time, you will be charged €50 in administrative costs.

    Facilities
After the payment is received, you will receive access to the digital learning environment (Canvas) during the current academic year. Login information will be sent to you by email.

    Proof of results obtained
After successful completion a certified list of marks may be requested from the central student desk:

    • name and course code of the course(s) taken
    • result obtained
    • number of EC credits
    • date on which the course was obtained

  • Bachelor's degree programme in Exercise Science

    What is the Hbo-schakelprogramma?
The digital schakelprogramma in Movement Sciences is a customized programme for talented and motivated hbo students who want an accelerated transition to a university master's programme in Movement Sciences at the VU.

As a hbo-student, you can begin the Movement Sciences schakelprogramma as early as the second year of your bachelor's programme. Because the schakelprogramma uses a digital learning environment, you can follow the programme via distance learning which makes it possible to combine it with your hbo education. You can follow the schakelprogramma as:

    • accelerated stepping stone to a university master's programme in Movement Sciences
    • minor within your own bachelor programme (depending on the offer within your study)

The schakelprogramma has a size of 30 EC and includes the five standard courses from the pre-master's programme. After completion of the schakelprogramma and a relevant college degree, you can directly enter the one-year master programme Human Movement Sciences: Sport, Exercise and Health. For the master programme Human Movement Sciences (Research) the same standard programme applies but additional requirements regarding achieved results and motivation apply. Currently, a partnership has been concluded with a number of college programmes:
