The Department of Educational and Developmental Sciences explores what children and young people need to develop, learn and participate fully in society.
We study how development and learning take place and the roles played by parents, teachers, healthcare professionals and policymakers in these processes. Our research focuses on questions such as: how can we promote the well-being, participation and learning of every child? And how can we create inclusive and safe learning and living environments in which everyone, with or without additional support needs, can reach their full potential?
Drawing on pedagogy, psychology, educational sciences and other social science disciplines, we investigate these issues and translate scientific insights into effective applications in education, care and parenting.
