HDC Inventory of Church Buildings in the Netherlands (IKGN)

The Inventory of Religious Buildings in the Netherlands (Inventarisatie Kerkelijke Gebouwen in Nederland: IKGN) contains information on thousands of religious buildings in the Netherlands.

Jan Sonneveld († 2012) collected information on thousands of churches, chapels, meeting rooms and other religious buildings in the Netherlands.

The data is stored in a database that contains information about approximately 19,000 church buildings of more than 100 denominations.

The buildings are arranged by place. After the location name, the name of the civil municipality is given (classification as of January 1, 2012) and the province.

For each building, the following information is included: the denomination, the year of construction or commissioning, the name of the building and the address, "vm" indicates that the building is no longer used by the original denomination. The last column lists, as far as possible, the current use.

Not all information described by Jan Sonneveld has been made available online. Please contact the curator for more information.
