Education Policy and Advice (OA) is a department within the Student & Education Affairs (SOZ) service. OA is responsible for developing, advising on and implementing VU-wide education policy, quality assurance and various educational evaluations.

Educational Policy
The Education Policy Team of the OA department represents the VU in national consultation structures and provides internal support to the Executive Board and the faculties in developing, implementing and evaluating education policy. Based on the institutional plan and external developments, projects and working groups are set up on current themes, such as intake policy, study success, language policy, educational innovation, assessment, student guidance, pre-master's programmes, joint degrees and quality improvement.
Educational quality and quality assurance
The OA department coordinates VU-wide support in the field of educational quality and its supervision. OA supervises visits, accreditations and TNO's at institutional level and supports faculties in this process. OA also focuses on strengthening internal quality assurance, for example through mid-term reviews.
In addition, OA supervises three important quality assurance instruments:
- Drawing up self-evaluation reports (ZER)
- Conducting pilot visits
- Conducting mid-term reviews
In collaboration with other departments, OA provides formats and key figures for the P&C cycle and offers faculties advice and support with internal and external quality assurance.
Education Analytics
The Education Analytics team analyses education and student data to improve student intake, progression and graduation rates at all stages of the programme.
Education Analytics is committed to using data to inform policy, guidance and academic research for student success. We call this data-informed policy.
