Every student walks a unique path. For some students, studying brings extra challenges - and, precisely because of this, creative solutions, new perspectives and valuable insights. We want to make these stories visible in a special exhibition at VU University Amsterdam. Therefore, we are looking for students with a disability, (chronic) illness or handicap who want to share their experience.
What will we do?
For the exhibition, we will take of each participant:
- a portrait photo
- a short interview about your experience as a student
Together, these portraits show how versatile studying at the VU is - and how your own ways of dealing with challenges, and any support from the VU, have positively shaped and deepened your study time.
The exhibition will be on display on the campus square for several weeks this spring. We also plan to use the stories and photos
- on the VU website
- during information days
Thus helping future students find their way more easily.
Why take part?
By sharing your story:
- you ensure more recognition and visibility for students with a functional impairment, chronic illness or disability
- you contribute to understanding within the VU community
- you show that there is no one way to be a student
You don't have to have a 'perfect' or 'success story'.
