This program will challenge you within the realm of biology, statistics, scientific methodology and programming. Rising to this challenge provides the opportunity to grow into the role of early career academic or industry researcher. Students can playfully explore the different facets of genetics due to the appropriately sized program. This exploration happens alongside the teaching staff, who are leading experts in their respective fields, allowing for an organic insight into the world of academia.
Faced with choosing a master’s program I was at a crossroads. During my bachelor’s in psychology, I became fascinated with both the underlying biology of human behavior and the brain. I was looking for an opportunity to further explore both. The Genes in Behavior and health (GBH) program allowed for ample freedom to combine these two topics through electives and the ability to pursue disciplines proximal to genetics. The GBH program provided me with a springboard into academia, and I am grateful for the connections I made along the way.
In October I will be starting a PhD track at King's College London (KCL), investigating the relationship between cognition and psychiatric disorders using genetics. I set out to nurture the fascination for human behavior at KCL which was sparked during the GBH program. I hope you have as much fun as I did.
