Sem Barendse

Sem Barendse is dialogue coordinator at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and a specialist in science communication, dialogue and public engagement.

He focuses on promoting constructive conversations within academia and has trained students and researchers in the Netherlands and Europe to give dialogue a central role in their work. His central question is: what does it really mean to "engage in dialogue"?

Barendse examines the interaction between science and society, the dialogue between scientists, and even the internal dialogue - the conversation a person has with himself. He also makes videos on scientific topics and interviews teachers and researchers in the VU podcast Studio VU.
