Yukiko Nezu is an architect and designer based in Amsterdam since 1997. Originally from Tokyo, she draws inspiration from the cultural contrasts between island and continental societies, using this perspective to shape her creative process. She is currently authoring “Amsterdam – An Experimental City of Bottom-Up Decision Making,” examining the city’s unique planning culture.
Yukiko holds a Master of Engineering from Tokyo City University and a second master’s degree from the Berlage Institute in Amsterdam, supported by a Dutch national scholarship.
Her studio, URBANBERRY DESIGN, creates spatial designs that explore the relationship between people, objects, and environments. The firm designed the Japan Pavilion at Floriade Expo 2022 and won second prize for the Netherlands Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka. Urbanberry Design collaborates with institutions such as Schiphol Airport and the Netherlands Cultural Heritage Agency, contributing to both public and cultural design projects.
