Dr. Pam J. Kaspers

Department Head of Information Services
Dr. Pam J. Kaspers currently holds the position of Department Head of Information Services at the University Library of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

Her journey with the university spans from her time as a student to her current role, encompassing a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Human Movement Sciences, a PhD in Medical Ethics at the Amsterdam Public Health Institute, and various service level positions including Information Specialist at the Library, Research Policymaker at Institutional Affairs, Coordinator of Research Intelligence at the Library, and now Head of Information Services. She is passionate about fostering connections between research fields, collaborations, and people.

She thrives in the dynamic environment of university libraries, which are constantly evolving. She believes in balancing the preservation of historical and traditional information services with the adoption of innovative methods for presenting and applying information. Her motto, "going out there," emphasizes the importance of combining history with innovation and ensuring the visibility of services both in content and within the physical university environment. She is particularly excited about extending these collaborations in the context of Japan and the upcoming Osaka Expo, where she sees great potential for international partnerships and the exchange of ideas.
