Rector Magnificus VU Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Jeroen Geurts (1978) is the Rector Magnificus of VU Amsterdam since January 2022.

In this role, he plays an important part in steering the university’s strategic direction, with a strong emphasis on enhancing the quality of education, research, and the application of knowledge. Geurts is dedicated to fostering an academic environment that promotes excellence among students, researchers, and faculty members. He is a strong advocate for interdisciplinary research and actively encourages collaboration between universities, research institutions, and societal organisations. Moreover, Geurts is deeply committed to advancing diversity and inclusion within the academic community, ensuring equal opportunities for all talented individuals.
