October 2024 steering cycle update

October 2024 steering cycle update
In recent months, the VUture steering cycle working group, together with many colleagues, has been identifying possible adjustments to the cycle. The steering cycle includes the framework memorandum, the annual plans of faculties, departments and the VU, the management reports and the annual report.

More attention to strategic goals and mutual alignment

The aim of this project is to build into this cycle more attention for looking ahead and for VU's strategic goals, and for better coordination between faculties and services. In doing so, we aim to make optimal use of the VU-wide data we have in-house. And where possible, reduce the administrative burden of the cycle. Our analysis shows that we can create more calm in the cycle by shifting with the management reports; the framework memorandum and the annual plan.

Planning & Control

Target groups involved actively think along

Now that the plans are on the table, the working group is talking to all those involved in the cycle about the changes and what it will take to actually make it happen from next year. Our intention is to speak to as many stakeholders in this process as possible. These include the business controllers of the faculties and services, concern control and the MT finance and policy staff of education, research and impact and valorisation. But also the secretaries of bodies such as the Audit and Housing Committee, the Supervisory Board, the VB, the OPO and the IBVU. In short, we ensure the broadest possible support from all parties involved in the steering cycle.

In December, the Executive Board will decide on the adjustments to the steering cycle. Are you curious about what is on the table now, and what it means for your contribution to the cycle? Contact the working group.
