He became famous as a word artist with his album 'De vloek op de overvloed'. With music, spoken word and other forms of linguistic readings, he took to many stages in the Netherlands and Belgium.
As a anthropologist, Manu has shaped several concepts as a creator and self-employed entrepreneur. For instance, he presented the radio programme Spoken for many years, was editor-in-chief of the literary magazine Spunk and developed the television format Spoken word sessions, in which word artists seek a crossover with composition. This crossover also brought Manu himself back on stage frequently, after he created the spoken word performance 'De herontdekking van de hemel' together with music collective .multibeat.
Besides all this, Manu also teaches at ArtEZ-Conservatorium and is regularly approached to give master classes in creative writing and presentation. In 2015, together with associate Derek Otte, Manu founded publishing house Rorschach, a platform for controversial word artists
