Jana Hirzinger, PhD in Statistical Genetics at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam

Alumnus Genes in Behaviour and Health
Jana Hirzinger didn't expect that her background in Pyschology would fit in so well in a research master programme. 'I can say that this programme only increased my passion for research.'

‘Before starting the Research Master Genes in Behaviour and Health at the VU Amsterdam, I did a Bachelor in Psychology at the same university. During my Minor, I realized that, yes, I am interested in psychiatric outcomes, but I'm even more interested in analyzing the genetic and environmental factors that influence those outcomes. So this was the perfect Master's program for me: learning several programming languages and different kinds of genetic analyses. I can say that this program prepared me well for a PhD in Statistical Genetics and only increased my passion for research.’
