Interactive session on safety and bystander behavior with sociologist Marie Rosenkrantz Lindegaard, including practical tools and subsequent self-defense workshop.
Always alert when cycling home at night? Many people recognize this feeling. Not just because of what happens, but because of what can happen. This constant alertness influences our behavior: we choose different routes, keep our keys ready and avoid quiet places. At the same time, research shows something hopeful. People often want to help, but are not sure how. Victims hesitate whether to ask for help and bystanders don't know when to intervene.
In this session Marie Rosenkrantz Lindegaard shows what happens in everyday tense situations. You get concrete tools for both your own actions and your role as bystander. Together we look at behavior and the role of bystanders, and translate these insights to everyday situations.
Afterwards, you can participate in a self-defense workshop in collaboration with the VU Sports Center. This way you can immediately put the insights into practice.
