Charles van der Schot, CJ Data Manager BSH Netherlands

Digital Innovation & Transformation alumnus
The course was recommended to me from my manager and I was immediately excited. In my role, I deal with quantifying and orchestrating our contact moments with consumers. I deal with changing strategies, new tooling and new ways of working on a daily basis. The topics covered in the course were all very relevant to my work, so it was a very logical choice to embark on this course.

I have found that it is very pleasant to obtain a theoretical framework to accompany my daily work practice. I make or influence both operational and strategic decisions, and it is enjoyable to be able to support your own preferences well with theory, of which I previously had much less knowledge.

I experienced the study period very positively and this was due to three main elements:

  1. Interaction. It was a very pleasant group of people from different work fields with whom substantive issues could be discussed openly. This gave me many insights into the state of affairs at other organisations regarding digital innovation & transformation.
  2. Context. I saw in a broad sense what challenges new and existing organisations are facing, and how to frame them. The cases we dealt with showed me what is currently going on in the market.
  3. Insight. The training gave me insight into where the 'gaps' are with ourselves and where I need to focus to get things moving.

There were some specific elements of the programme that attracted me. Beforehand, I was very interested in platforms & ecosystems, as this is a hot topic in my organisation. I learnt a lot from the theory on platforms & ecosystems, for example about making the choice between setting up your own ecosystem versus using an existing structure. In addition, the topic "the future of work" gave me many new insights, for example on the new roles that are emerging as a result of digital innovations. The lecture on the organisation of IT within companies was also very topical for me and gave a lot of insight into the choices that can be made.

I would heartily recommend this programme to people who are dealing with one or more themes within digital innovation & transformation in their daily practice, and who need to supplement this practice with a theoretical framework. The course gives you insight into the entire breadth of the field. You will see which sub-topics exist in this field of work, such as strategy, IT, work, creativity and ecosystems. You gain insight into how new companies operate in the market and how existing companies adapt. The knowledge imparted is topical and valuable for people in an overarching/strategic position, but also for those who are operationally concerned with one or more of the topics.
