Why did you choose this progamme? The CMA in general, and why the CMA at the VU?
''After comparing different possibilities among CFA, MBA, CMA or a second master in finance and accounting, I think the CMA program at VU is most economical and time-effective program that could provide me the knowledge and network and CMA is a certification that has a high reputation in the finance field.''
How do you look back on the training/lectures?
It was quite packed schedule to combine work in the day and lectures at night. But looking back, the CMA program at VU covers many topics such as corporate finance, accounting, investment instruments and many others. It provides an excellent range and width. The curriculum structure is very systematic. The instructor Brigitte also invited key speakers from industry and makes our lectures more practical, accessible and relatable to industry.
How do you use the materials covered in the program in your work? What did the program bring you?
This program is like a mini-MBA. It gives me a fast track to gain practical understanding of financial and accounting language, and more importantly, it helps me think in the way a company operates, looking at the big picture. That makes it very useful and directly applicable to my daily work in the global audit department.
As someone who comes from non-finance background and works now as data analyst in audit function, I really think CMA program could serve as a knowledge and career boost.
Are there any aspects about the program that you particularly liked or stayed with you?
The Networking and IMA events were great add-ons.
