About Marise van Amersfoort

Marise van Amersfoort has been included in the internal mediation pool at VU Amsterdam

Marise has worked for VU Amsterdam for over 10 years at the Centre for International Cooperation as a programme manager and trainer in the field of conflict and mediation. She is responsible for acquiring and coordinating projects in cooperation with partners of VU Amsterdam, as well as with external partners inside and outside of the Netherlands, especially Asia and Africa. She has trained a considerable number of professionals as mediators. These trainings emphasize the application of mediation skills and the structural establishment of mediation in various contexts.

A conflict at work, which you may be dealing with on a daily basis, can have a big impact on your life. As a mediator, Marise values openness, neutrality and positivity. Suppose the conflict did not exist, what would that mean concretely? It is of vital importance that participants feel heard and that, in conversation with each other, new perspectives on a situation emerge. Space needs to be created for a closer understanding, acceptance, connection and progress. Participants in mediation describe Marise as inviting and skilled in bringing the underlying aspects of a conflict to the surface in order to reach a real, supported and lasting solution.
