Working towards better services

An update from the VUture service working group
How do you optimise services? How do you ensure better findability? And how do you avoid silo thinking when services are offered from multiple units? On the basis of these questions, the service working group last period drew up guiding principles that future service provision must comply with:
  1. Services are known, easy to find and and accessible
We aim to make services as accessible as possible. That means in one place, with one search engine and one chatbot.

  2. We provide services integrally.
So if a product or service is provided by multiple units, we make sure the user is not inconvenienced by this.

  3. The service is future-proof and capable of continuous improvement.
Important here is involving the user and actually doing something with the evaluation outcomes.

  4. We are unifying the demand side
To provide good service, it helps to get a grip on the great diversity of questions, without losing sight of the fact that sometimes customisation remains necessary.

  5. Service providers and users behave professionally, among themselves and towards each other
It may seem obvious, but both providers and users behave professionally in terms of attitude and behaviour.
  6. We adhere to the set frameworks

Best practices of teams already working according our guiding principles

Leading principles applied

Together with colleagues involved in their daily work, we actually started to apply the above principles. The following teams were are already using this approach and therefor are inspiring to other services.

Learning from other teams

We can learn from and use these teams for the solutions we are currently working on. Download the overview in pdf here to enlarge and read it.

For example, we are working on improving the onboarding of new colleagues, organising events and providing information on services. We aim to be able to show the results of what we are working on as soon as possible. We work hard at that but it does not always go as fast as we would like. Nevertheless, we are confident that we will be able to show the first results of our efforts as early as the autumn.
