A sustainable future

A sustainable future

We are currently faced with the enormous challenge of securing the future of our planet and all the living things that call it home. At VU Amsterdam, multidisciplinary research is seeking a sustainable balance between economic, ecological and social interests for our and future generations. This means disrupting our existing behaviour. How do we incentivise governments, companies and consumers to adopt sustainable behaviour? Are we accelerating the energy transition? Is production becoming less wasteful and fairer for our fellow humans around the world? Scholars and scientists at VU Amsterdam conduct pioneering research on sustainability in all its many facets.

This research falls under the profile theme Science for Sustainability
The other themes are Human Health & Life Sciences and Governance for Society and Connected World
