Training on writing a Research Proposal

Throughout the year, VU IXA-GO provides a variety workshops and information and training sessions in relation to grant writing and specific grants. To stay informed about the upcoming sessions you can check the calendar on the VU IXA-GO website and/or subscribe to the newsletter.

For the ERC Starting Grant specifically, there is also an extensive training programme available. This programme offers participants hands-on guidance in the different steps of the application procedure. To join the ERC Starting Grant Training programme you need to be selected by your faculty.

Taalcentrum-VU, the Learn Academy and the Academic Language Programme offer courses for employees of VU Amsterdam to strengthen their skills in English and Academic Writing.

Develop your impact & entrepreneurship skills

When introducing your idea to society, you may discover that you need to improve skills. Innovation Exchange Amsterdam organises a number of workshops, courses, webinars, seminars and much more that are also available for VU researchers. The courses, workshops and training enable researchers to explore activities that enhance the valorisation of their research, develop proficiency in specific valorisation–related topics, and gain essential entrepreneurship skills.

Research data & software management training

Research data management (RDM) concerns the organisation, documentation, storage, archiving and sharing of digital and analogue data.

Proper RDM ensures reliable verification of results, and permits new and innovative research built on existing information. In other words, proper RDM makes data more FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable) as it supports the transparency of scientific output. The Library Calendar gives an overview and invites you to register for courses that are offered.

Software Carpentry workshops aim to help researchers get basic research computing skills. These hands-on workshops will cover basic concepts and tools, including program design, version control, data management, and task automation.
