Safety

Safety & Environment

If you are working with chemicals, plants, biological materials or medical devices, then you may have to register and follow guidelines or comply with safety protocols.

In the related pages you will find this information, along with available research support and who you should contact in the event of an emergency.

1. If you work with or develop medical devices, then you have to follow the European rules that regulate this. They are intended to improve safety and set requirements for market approval.

2. Are you using genetic materials from other countries as part of your research? If so, please take into account the rules of the Nagoya protocol.

3. Working with biological materials? Here, you will find the basic requirements and conditions that apply when working with these materials.

4. Will you be working with chemicals in your research? When using chemical substances, the laws and regulations of the Working Conditions Act (Arbeidsomstandighedenwet in Dutch) apply. A step-by-step guide is available to assist you.

Emergency

In the event of an incident (exposure to hazardous substances, release of hazardous substances into the environment, or something else), call the internal emergency number 22222 or 020-5982222.
