Knowledge Security Responsibilities
Knowledge security
At VU Amsterdam, we value international collaboration. This is vitally important for top-level research and high-quality academic education. However, along with opportunities – for research, education, innovation and open knowledge sharing – international collaboration also entail risks. Universities are a sought-after targets for obtaining sensitive knowledge and technologies. Any such interference can lead to the undermining of academic freedom and censorship (including self-censorship).
VU Amsterdam’s Knowledge Security Framework is mandatory and will help you tackle these issues. The framework aims to guide you through the necessary knowledge security process at VU Amsterdam and entails six questions, designed to ensure that the international cooperation you want to set up or extend is legally permitted and (knowledge) secure. In addition, an information page is available at vu.nl containing additional information and tools on knowledge security at VU Amsterdam, related to, amongst other things, support hiring employees, searching the sanctions list, international business travel and hosting foreign delegations at VU Amsterdam.
