Impact & Entrepreneurship
Creating impact
There are many ways to realise impact through your research. Impact can be realised, amongst other things, through partnerships, entrepreneurship and the public, policy and sociopolitical outreach of your research output. It is thus helpful to explore the different valorisation strategies and activities that best fit your research. VU IXA-GO specialises in valorisation and can help you to generate knowledge that is both suitable and available for societal use and/or transforming your research idea into a competitive product or service.
Together with VU IXA-GO, you can come up with your personal valorisation plan. VU IXA-GO can also help you find answers to questions, such as: What is the potential of my research in terms of social and/or economic impact? How can I best apply my research results within society? What is the best way for me to participate in public debates? They can also provide support with writing a utilisation section for your grant proposal alongside giving advice on whether your idea or invention requires legal protection.
VU IXA-GO has specialist business developers who can assess the opportunities and pitfalls of your idea with you. There are also valorisation guides available for Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) and Medical Technologies.
Proof of Concept & Pre-seed
You might be thinking about starting your own company or want to develop an idea you have for an impactful innovation. In each of these scenarios, VU IXA-GO can offer support and has various services in place.
Both the Proof-of-concept (POC) funding and the Pre-Seed loan are financial instruments to stimulate research-driven entrepreneurship. The POC funding is meant to carry out technical feasibility studies, whilst the Pre-seed loan provides the start-up with initial capital.
For these financing instruments VU IXA-GO evaluates the eligibility of either the start-up or the innovation you have in mind. To prepare your application, please reach out to an VU IXA-GO business developer or ixa@vu.nl
