These interventions are often more affordable and easier to access than face-to-face care. People can use them when and where it suits them, which can lower the threshold to seek help. This flexibility also makes digital mental health support suitable for wider use in settings such as universities, workplaces, and communities.
Digital mental health interventions cover a broad range of support, from promoting wellbeing and preventing problems to providing treatment for mental health conditions. They can be used on their own or alongside traditional care, depending on individual needs, showing how technology can support mental health across different stages of care.
In our department, various types of digital technologies are used, such as apps that provide just-in-time adaptive interventions, virtual reality, and online interventions for students. We work on a variety of projects, including the implementation of digital interventions in mental health care settings.
