VU sees increase in student satisfaction according to NSE 2026

Share
27 May 2026
On May 27, 2026, the results of the National Student Survey (NSE) were released. Students at VU University Amsterdam rated their program this year just slightly higher than last year, with a score of 3.91 out of 5.

VU scores better than last year on almost all components. Especially the involvement of teachers and the contact between students and teachers are rated higher. VU students are more positive about the opportunities for guidance and support. In addition, more students than last year indicate that they would choose their program at VU again, with a score of 3.97.

Many students participated
In total, 6579 students filled out the survey - about 20% of all VU students.

Rector Jeroen Geurts calls the results "a beautiful confirmation of the commitment and involvement of
our faculty and staff," and at the same time sees the results as a stimulus to keep improving. "It is very valuable to see that students positively appreciate the commitment of our teachers and the guidance within the programs. At the same time, the results also show where we can further strengthen our education and student support. Good education we make together with our students. And their experiences help us take steps in this every day."

What happens now with the results?

The VU uses the results of the NSE to further improve education and facilities. Programs analyse the results per subject and discuss what changes are needed for the coming academic year.

The results per program are published on Studiekeuze123.nl, so future students can see how current students rate their program
