VU EduNews & Stories celebrates its third anniversary!

“Three years of VU EduNews & Stories, sixty editions already! Looking back through the archive, what makes me particularly proud is how many stories from our education community have found a place here. Behind every innovative education initiative, every award and every good idea, there is a story. And, above all, there are colleagues whose knowledge, ideas and commitment help move education at VU forward every day.

Of course, these stories do not exist in isolation from the world around us. Much has changed over the past three years. In a short space of time, generative AI confronted us with important questions about learning, assessment and the role of the teacher. Political and societal developments were also felt within our university and lecture halls. At times like these, it is particularly valuable to see how our education community finds its way through all this change: by considering different perspectives alongside one another, learning from each other and continuing to reflect together on what good education requires.

That is what I value so much about VU EduNews & Stories. You do not just read about educational innovation, policy or an award we have won. You also get to know the people behind them: teachers, education experts, policymakers, student staff and many other colleagues working both in front of and behind the scenes. People who share what works and inspires them, but also what causes friction, which questions occupy their minds and where they see new possibilities.

By giving all these stories and perspectives a place, we get to know each other, and our education better. That is something we can be proud of. And after sixty editions, one thing is clear: there is still so much to learn and so much more to share!"
