VU Amserdam was judged the most sustainable university in the Netherlands, taking second place in the ranking of a total of 33 knowledge institutions. Van Hall Larenstein emerged as the winner, for the sixth time in a row, as a university of applied sciences. At number three is Wageningen University.

Knowledge institutions are assessed based on 13 questions (themes) about sustainability in education, research and operations. The organization uses a gold-silver-bronze classification. VUAmsterdam is one of 5 institutions to receive a gold rating!
Sustainability Policy VU Amsterdam
VU Amsterdam takes responsibility for people and planet through scientific and values-driven education, research and valorization. This is the mission of VU Amsterdam and it shows how strongly sustainability is embedded in our university. VU Amsterdam has been participating in the SustainaBul since 2013 and sets the goal of achieving a Top 5 position every year. In addition, the SustainaBul encourages knowledge institutions to learn from each other and make an impact on sustainability together.
