The University Library VU moved its decolonisation collection from the 11th to the first floor of the main building. This gives the theme collection a more central location. The room where the collection could previously be consulted, the decolonisation lab, will thus be disestablished, becoming a normal study room.
The decolonisation lab was established several years ago with the goal of bringing researchers and students together around the theme of decolonisation, and providing them with a reliable, inspiring collection of books and journals. With this move, the library is revising its strategy to support students and researchers on this theme. The information specialists hope to better highlight the collection on the first floor and more easily connect it with objects from the library's Special Collections and programming.
The decolonisation collection currently has more than 150 titles. These are partly physical books and journals, and partly digitally accessible editions; ranging from books on slavery history to journals that are part of academic discourse on decolonisation.
